Istanbul Hillside

Istanbul is a city of many hills, many of them reaching down to the waters of the Bosphorus or the Marmara Sea. When I created this paper collage, I was intrigued with the way that the abstract patterns of the handmade paper complemented the forms of the arabic text, while also contrasting with the straight lines of the structures. I coaxed some of those organic shapes into the image, and repeated the form of the tower as well.
