Taksim Square

The square lies in the middle of the most metropolitan of Istanbul's districts. I walked across it many times, and there was always something going on, from dawn to dusk. This man caught my attention, and I was fortunate enough to get a bit of the Independence Monument in the background. I took the opportunity presented by the blank slates of some of the office windows to import bits of mosaics from older buildings in the area, reflecting the omnipresent juxtaposition of old and new in Istanbul.
